The weight of a Tiny Home is paramount, so its design and size is worked out around this. The most economical size of a Tiny Homes Perth home is 2.4m wide x 6.8m long, with a roof apex at 3.3m.

Why is a Tiny Home on a trailer?

*A Tiny Home is a Caravan

Under regulations, a Tiny Home is not a building, but a caravan (trailer).

Regulations under the vehicle standards provide guidelines for trailer manufacturing of various weights. These regulations stipulate that a Tiny Home of up to 3500kg can be towed using a traditional vehicle, while a suitable vehicle must be used to tow anything above this, to a maximum of 4500kg.

The length, width and height of the Tiny Home are adapted to conform with the size of a caravan.

A Tiny Home is built using the same materials as traditionally constructed homes rather than those used to assemble traditional caravans. When constructing a Tiny Home, the weight of these materials is a crucial factor to consider.

Tiny Home vs caravan

*Building a home

A traditional caravan squeezes all of its components into an allocated space, allowing you to 'live off the grid' for a while, however, the comfort and practicality of of a full-sized bed, a standard ceiling level and a kitchen with abundant cupboard space is compromised.

Some of the options found in traditional caravans today are great, but they are not suitable for supporting a 'normal', comfortable lifestyle in the long-term, especially if you are over a certain age.

Tiny Homes Perth gives you the option of living your day-to-day life in an uncluttered, fully functioning house, suitable for home owners of any age.

Although caravans and Tiny Homes have a similar chassis, with a Tiny Home you have the option and luxury of building your bathroom, kitchen sink and several other features to match the size and finish of a traditional home - something you won't find in a traditional caravan.

How safe are Tiny Homes?

*Guidelines and standards

Because Tiny Homes are considered caravans, they are regulated as such. Under the Australian Standards there are stiff regulations in place with regard to both the construction of caravans and traditional homes

Construction of the chassis is rigid, while all Tiny Homes come with electric brake-away systems, offering braking during travel as well as a brake lock-up system if the trailer disconnects from the towing vehicle.

The traditional building materials used in the construction of a Tiny Home have been tried and tested over many years.
